Chapter 04 | Equity market

Abstract

First, you’ll get a clear understanding of how the equity market works — we’ll talk about joint stock companies, the purpose of equity markets, and who the main participants are. Second, we’ll break down the different types of stocks. You’ll learn the difference between common stocks and preferred stocks, and understand the unique features of each. And finally, we’ll look at how equity markets are structured — including what happens in the primary and secondary markets, and how Vietnam’s stock market is organized and operates today. So by the end of this session, you should have a solid foundation in how equity markets function, both in general and in the Vietnamese context.
